Alexia R. Thiele graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with an emphasis in Intermedia in the Spring of 2005. She has a background in painting, textiles, collage, video, installation, and Interior Design. I guess you could say she's made it an objective to be well-rounded in all areas of the visual arts.
Alexia has been designing and constructing clothes the past five years for herself, her friends, and art exhibitions. In December of '06 she decided to make her hobby into a business.
Autopilot Art is named in reference to the actual literal definition of the word autopilot. While sewing Alexia's cognitive state can be somewhat void of self-awareness. In other words, the creation of the fashions comes rather naturally or intuitively. The "Art", while being descriptive of the kind of company Autopilot is, coincidentally are also the initials of Alexia's full name.
